History of Riyadh King Khaled International Airport
One of the fascinating facts about Riyadh King Khaled International airport is that it was an alternative landing spot for the NASA space shuttle mission. The airport was inaugurated in 1983. The previous airport before the construction of King Khaled International airport was Royal Airforce base airport which is much closer to the city of Riyadh. King Khaled airport has two runways, and it is located about 35 KM from the city center of Riyadh.
